News | October 2009 - Wine Tour Recap
NYSCWA Fall Meeting Visits
Finger Lakes' Wineries, Washes
The New York State Car Wash Association (NYSCWA) ventured out into the Finger Lakes Region of New York for its first Wash/Wine Tour on Sept. 30. A group of approximately 30 enjoyed a day filled with wine tasting topped off by a visit to the Delta Sonic in Webster.
“We try to think out of the box,” said President Mark Kubarek. “With such great vineyards in our region it would have been a shame not to enjoy them. It also gave us a chance to attract some members who have not attended one of our meetings.”
The event began at the picturesque Lodge at Bristol Harbour in Canandaigua where the group enjoyed a buffet lunch and business meeting led by Kubarek. The group then set out for The New York Wine & Culinary Center where they were educated on New York wines and food and enjoyed a private tasting of five local wines.
The next stop included a tour of Casa Larga Vineyards, a 35-year-old vineyard outside of Rochester. Here the group got a tour of the vineyard and its winemaking operation before enjoying a second tasting. The day was topped off with a visit to the Delta Sonic location in Webster where attendees were able to enjoy observing the first-rate operation and its many profit centers including a lube, c-store and gas operation.
The event’s sponsors were the following: Tour Bus Sponsors BusinessKeeping, Northeast Carwasher and Simoniz USA; Wine Tour Sponsors JSA Car Wash Supply LLC (ICS’s New New York Distributor) and Mang Insurance.
