News |2009 NRCC Show - 20th Anniversary

20th NRCC Just Days Away !!!

In just a matter of days the 20th Northeast Regional Carwash Convention (NRCC) will be at hand. It’s hard to imagine that it has been 20 years since the first NRCC in Newport, RI.

The humble beginnings of a then table top show with limited education has mushroomed into one of the premiere regional carwash venues thanks to the hard work and dedication of the NRCC board. Julie Stanton, show facilitator, says the evolution of the show is the direct result of the board’s high standards and expectations from the first show to the current one. “This board is amazing and a real tribute to how far the show has come,” said Stanton. “They all work tirelessly to produce the best and most professional show they can for attendees and vendors alike.”

The 20th NRCC will be no exception.

“I am so excited about this year’s 20th anniversary NRCC,” said Walt Hartl, co-chairperon from the New York State Car Wash Association. “I’ve been involved with the NRCC for about 19 years and when I recall its evolution it really coincides with all the changes that have occurred in the industry.”

From the evolution of equipment to computerization/automation to the “green” movement, the NRCC has kept pace with change and never forgotten that “Everything Matters.” “The NRCC has been on the

forefront of those trends,” said Hartl. “We have brought them to our

attendees.”

This year‘s show, themed “Everything Matters,” October 19-21 at the Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, will feature 45,000 square feet of exhibit space and 240+ vendors offering the latest in technology and money-saving solutions.

Some of the education will include a keynote from carwash veteran Fred Grauer, who will speak on the industry’s evolution. Grauer, a second-generation carwasher, has been in the industry for more than 50 years. He has served as an operator, distributor, manufacturer, designer, consultant and lecturer. “Fred has been a leader and innovator in our industry,” said Hartl.

This Princeton-educated economist knows a thing or two about carwashing. From his beginnings working for his uncle Bill Thacher at Sherman Industries in New Jersey to later purchasing that company then selling it and becoming involved with Mark VII Equipment, then Ryko Manufacturing and most recently Micrologic Associates, Grauer is knowledgable in every aspect of the business. He currently owns and operates Whistle Clean Car Wash with his son, Chris, in Colorado. “His perspective on where we have been and where we are going will be insightful to all attendees.”

The traditional “Early Bird” programs will again return to the educational lineup in addition to “The Essentials of Marketing in Today’s Economy” and “Revisiting the Club Plan a Year Later.” The Opening Night event will be held in the new Water Club in the pool area. The group will again meet at The Mixx to enjoy a lunch buffet and honor the 2009 NRCC Most Distinguished Person. A new award twist this year will be the introduction of the NRCC Hall of Fame Award. The first inductee will be chosen by the New York State Car Wash Association, this year’s host.

For show hours and/or vendor information contact the NRCC office at 800/868-8590 or visit www.nrccshow.com.
